Black, White and Rose – New Gouaches by Maurice Vellekoop

Above is a portrait of Fleur Cowles from a 2003 piece in the NY Times magazine. The Balenciaga dress is the same she wore to Elizabeth the Second’s coronation in 1952!

Balenciaga happens to be another Vellekoop obsession…his late work from the ’60s – modernity steeped in historicism.

The de Young sisters at the de Young Memorial Museum in San Francisco, also from an Aarons photograph.

Fairmont Hotel Christmas Ornament 2011

James Marsh created the first Ornament in a series for Fairmont Hotels. James did three illustrations (one for the front, back and side of the ornament) depicting a bellhop, in Fairmont uniform, carrying a Christmas wreath.

CELEBRATING THE JUNOS: PHOTOGRAPHS AND ALBUM ARTWORK

This new display at the Canadian Museum of Civilization is a celebration of the JUNO Award winners from the Recording Package of the Year (album cover art) category from 1975 to present. These works will be accompanied by a photo exhibit celebrating the past 40 years of the JUNO Awards.

Jeff Jackson’s artwork is featured in the exhibit for the cover art of Seamless by The Nylons 1984 Album.

The exhibit runs from March 16 – April 13, 2012 in the W.E. Taylor Salon at the CMC.
